The majority of passenger airliners in use today use hydraulic power to perform many different functions. Although there are different approaches to the design, most airliners have 3 systems (which can operate independently of the others) and extensive back-up supplies in the event of failures.
Our CBT features on overview of systems from 3 different sized modern airliners with sharp, clear and colourful images that enable students to appreciate the various approaches to the design of hydraulic systems. The 3 aircraft featured are the Bombardier CRJ200, Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 and the Airbus A320.
This CBT delivers a series of 33 clear and easy to understand images enabling students to quickly acquire all the essential knowledge to describe the purpose, function and normal sources of power for the No 1, No 2 and No 3 hydraulic systems.
It also covers sources of back-up power and the cockpit controls and indications on the hydraulic panel and EICAS.
This CBT provides an overview of the Dash-8 Q400 hydraulic system. Through a series of 45 clear and easy to understand images students will quickly acquire all the essential knowledge to describe the purpose and function of the 3 main hydraulic systems and also the auxiliary system (also known as the alternate system).
The lesson includes the back-up supplies provided by the standby power unit, PTU (Power Transfer Unit), DC motor pump and No 3 system accumulator as well as the controls and indications on the Multi-Function Displays (MFD1 and MFD2) and hydraulic control panel.
The largest of the 3 aircraft is the Airbus A320. This CBT uses 46 steps to describe the purpose and function of the green, yellow and blue hydraulic systems, and their normal sources of power.
Also included are the back-up supplies from the PTU (Power Transfer Unit), DC motor pump and RAT (ram air turbine). The controls and indications include those on the HYD panel and also the system display and engine/warning display shown on the ECAM.
